Yarn: Worsted Weight
Gauge: 5sts/inch
Needles: 16″ 5mm circular and double pointed set.

Adult Size:

For Adult Head (head 22-23.5″)

Cast on 92 st in white on circ, do not join.(k1,P1 rib) x 4 rows

Purl, inc. evenly to 100 st

k28, pattern from chart, k28

Continue with pattern, knitting 28 st on either side.

Join in round on circ or dpns, place marker

k 8 rows

(k2tog, k8 ) x 10 = 90 st on needle

k 5 rows (if you want a slightly longer hat, add 3-5 more rows here)

(k2tog, k7) x 10(k2tog, k6) x 10

Move hat to dpns from circ.

(k2tog, k3) x 10

(k2tog, k2) x 10

Cut 10″ yarn end and thread with darning needle thru remaining stitches, drawup tautly and weave into wrong side.
Sew up back seam with mattress stitch seam or other, and weave in all ends. Steam lightly.

Baby Size:
Cast on 72 sts onto circular needle, do not join in the round.
Work 4 rows back and forth in 1×1 rib (*k1, p1* repeat)

Row 5: inc evenly to 81 sts.

Work Chart with 19 white stitches on one side, 18 on the other. Maintain in St. st.

After chart is completed, join in the round in St. st for 1 inch.

Begin decreases:
1) *K8, k2tog* repeat to end of row
2) *K7, k2tog* repeat to end of row
3) *K6, k2tog* repeat to end of row
4) *K5, k2tog* repeat to end of row
5) *K4, k2tog* repeat to end of row
6) *K3, k2tog* repeat to end of row
7) *K2, k2tog* repeat to end of row
8 ) *K1, k2tog* repeat to end of row
9) *K2tog* repeat to end of row

Cut yarn, run waste yarn through remaining stitches – pull taut and weave in ends. Sew up back seam.
