NaNoWriMo anticipation.

October 25, 2008 · 2 Comments

Oh man.

I’m actually going to make an attempt this year. I don’t think I’ll write a novel so much as I’ll attempt to just.. put 50,000 words (gulp) onto paper by any means necessary. Probably through stream-of-consciousness BS that will not make any sense.. but might possibly, if I could hazard to maybe hope.. have some tiny grain of awesomeness buried deep within.

Other than journaling, I’ve never really had an official foray into writing before.. I’ve explored music, painting, drawing.. but writing has always kind of evaded me (other than the small amount of lyrics I’ve written in the DISTANT past). Maybe this will be fun. Maybe I’ll overdose on caffeine and pass out.

Here goes. GASP.

Fleece Artist Handspun FINISHED!!

October 14, 2008 · 1 Comment

Fleece Artist Handspun, originally uploaded by GoetheGamine.

This was from half a batch of Fleece Artist roving I bought from River City Yarns at Fibre Week this year. I managed to get approximately 600yds, lace-fingering weight.

Beauty. I’m so excited about this. I know I don’t want it to be socks, because despite the fact it’s superwash.. this is precious handspun that took me WAY too long to spin up. It has to be something special – what, I don’t know.

It’s a huge beast of a skein and I still have half the roving left!!

Peacock painting in progress.

This is a work in progress (my first foray into oil painting), personally I think it looks totally hideous and in no way was what I pictured when I began.. but it’s coming along, and I’ve got about three more sessions left to screw with it. We’ll see how it goes.

Tiny tiny 2 ply superwash Fleece Artist roving, purple with shocks of electric blue!

I can’t wait until this is finished! There’s only a tiny bit left on each of the bobbins. I’ll finish plying tonight, wash it to set the twist and show off the skein tomorrow!

Hand-dyed Shetland Lamb’s Wool for a lace scarf, bought from Twist of Fate in Kamloops BC.

The yarn for my latest project (it`s been SO LONG since I`ve knitted anything new!!).

Any suggestions for neat lacy patterns? I’ve got about 600yds.

Wheee!

Watching House, drinking cider, and eating honey dijon Kettle Chips with my sweetie. It’s a good night. I work tomorrow, but I don’t want to think about it.. I’m enjoying tonight too much.

I’ve been discovering so much new music lately. I’ll chit chat about it later..

There’s a new website!! Popknits! It’s an online knitting magazine focused on vintage knitting patterns! I’m so excited about it. I wish that I spoke to Katelyn more often so I could tell her about it – I’m sure she’d love it. The first issue is out now, and so far, it shows a lot of potential. I especially like the cowl, it’s super cute.

I miss my friends.

Fountain Painting

Fountain Painting, originally uploaded by GoetheGamine.

This is the (unfortunately very blurry) beginnings of my newest painting, of the astronaut in the movie "the Fountain" exploding into Xibalba at the end of the film.

I am so behind on this project 365 thing. GRR!
